Self Help? Acting at the Flying J
There is no better acting exercise than being at a gas station and watching someone walk in with full intent straight to the men’s room. It’s completely clear they know what they want and what they need. They are doing it with purpose and high stakes. Bravo Daniel Day-Lewis of The Flying J!
The best part is the commitment. No wandering around pretending to browse beef jerky. No eye contact. Just a man with a mission, moving through the Flying J like the fate of the picture depends on him making it through those doors. That’s a method acting exercise if I ever saw one.
Maybe that’s why it’s so funny to watch. Most of us spend half the day acting like we meant to end up where we are, but this guy has the kind of clarity usually reserved for action heroes.
